Delete Local Models
Remove unwanted models to free up disk space
Overview
As you explore and test different AI models, your model library may grow quickly. Deleting models you no longer need helps keep your system organized and frees up valuable disk space.
What Gets Deleted?
Deleting a model permanently removes it from your disk. You'll need to download it again if you want to use it in the future.
Deleting Models
Open Installed Models
Click Installed in the sidebar to view all models installed on your system.

Browse Your Models
You'll see a grid of model cards, each displaying:
- Model name and version tag
- Parameter size and quantization level
- Disk space used
- Last modified date
Locate Model to Delete
Find the model you want to remove. You can use the search box to quickly filter by name.
Click Delete Button
On the right side of the model card, click the Delete button (trash icon).
What Happens When You Delete
When you delete a model:
Disk Space Freed

Model Unloaded
If the model was running, it's automatically unloaded from memory
Can Re-download
You can download the model again anytime from the online library
Checking Disk Usage
Before deleting models, you can check how much space they're using:
Dashboard Overview
The Dashboard shows:
- Total Disk Usage: Combined size of all installed models
- Individual Model Sizes: Each model card shows its disk footprint
Sorting by Size
In the Local Models view:
- Look at the size indicator on each model card
- Larger models typically range from 5GB to 70GB+
- Smaller quantized versions use less space (e.g., Q4_0 vs Q8_0)

Safety Tips
Before Deleting

- Test alternatives first: Ensure you have a suitable replacement model
Troubleshooting
Bulk Management
Currently, OllaMan requires deleting models one at a time. For managing many models:
- Prioritize by size: Delete largest unused models first for maximum space gain
- Group by family: Review all versions of each model family together
- Check usage patterns: Review chat history to identify rarely-used models
- Plan ahead: Keep models you'll need for upcoming projects
Best Practices
Model Management Tips
- Regular cleanup: Review installed models monthly
- Download on demand: Don't pre-download models "just in case"
- Keep versatile models: Maintain 2-3 general-purpose models
- Remove duplicates: Avoid keeping multiple similar models
- Monitor disk space: Check Dashboard regularly to track usage
