Save a conversation as a Markdown or JSON file
Overview
You can export any chat to a file, to keep a record, share it, or use it elsewhere. OllaMan supports two formats:

Exporting a Chat
You can export from the chat history list or from the chat you have open.
From the Chat History List
Open the Menu
In the chat history list, right-click a chat, or hover over it and click the ⋯ button.
Choose a Format
Select Export as Markdown or Export as JSON.
Save the File
Choose where to save the file in the save dialog. The suggested name is the chat title plus the date and time, for example Trip plan-20261018-1430.md.
From the Open Chat
Click the Export chat button (download icon) at the top of the chat, then choose a format.
When the export finishes, a notification shows the file name. Click Show in folder to find the file.
Only saved chats can be exported
The export button is grayed out until the chat has been saved, which happens after the first message. A brand-new, empty chat has nothing to export yet.
What's in Each Format
Markdown
A Markdown export starts with a summary table: the agent, model, creation and export time, model parameters, and message count. The system prompt follows in a collapsible section. Then comes the conversation:
- Each message under a User or Assistant heading
- The model's thinking in collapsible Thinking sections
- Agent Mode and web search steps as Tool call and Tool result blocks
- Attached files listed by name and size
- Images noted as a placeholder, since Markdown files can't embed them here
JSON
A JSON export keeps everything, including images (as base64), the agent, the settings the chat was created with, and any per-chat overrides. Each file includes a schemaVersion field so scripts can rely on the structure.
Exports may contain sensitive data
Exported files include the full conversation, the system prompt, and any images or file contents you shared. Check them before sharing.
